I took a ginger-turmeric shot every morning for two weeks and…

The same thing that always happens. I turn into gold.

Seriously. My face thins out, my eyes get brighter, and my rather-fair skin has a noticeably more golden tint to it.

It’s not just me and my interpretation. I have never, and I will repeat, NEVER, taken ginger-turmeric shots for 2—3 weeks without someone commenting on my skin. Even when I lived in a permanent state of sun-kissed bliss in Miami Beach, it was still noticeable.

If that’s what these two tiny, pungent, powerful roots do to the superficial body, imagine the effect they must have on the inside?

Since many of us are in the drabs of winter, I thought this might be the perfect time to share with you my no-fail brighten-yourself-up elixir. It’s cheaper than booking a beach vacation and it really makes the whites of your eyes POP.

Plus, ginger and turmeric are really good for you.

- They’re both anti-inflammatories.

- They’re both antioxidants and protect your cells.

- Ginger aids digestion.

- Both enhance immune function so you won’t get sick.

- Turmeric may improve memory function.

There are two ways to make the elixir.

The first is by juicing the roots. You’ll juice a few nuggets of each root until you have enough liquid to fill 1—2 shot glasses. Take it immediately while the enzymes are alive.

The pro: It’s the freshest way to do it.

The con: It’s messy, it could be time consuming, and it requires a juicer.

The second is by boiling the roots. You’ll grate or chop the roots until you’ve got about a handful in total. Then, you’ll boil for at least 10 minutes or until the water is yellow. Strain and store in the fridge for up to 3—5 days.

The pro: It’s easier, and you can continue reboiling the same batch of roots until it loses its punch. Usually about 3 times.

The con: It’s not as potent as juicing.

What do I do? I don’t have a juicer in my current kitchen so I boil them.

There is one way to take the elixir.

First thing every morning, take 1—2 shots on an empty stomach for two weeks (or longer!). I promise you’ll see results within that time frame.
